how to change ball-joints on a 1998 ford E-150, or should i take it to mechanic?

I don't remember all the details off the top of my head, so I won't give detailed descriptions.

You will need a manual. Chilton's is about $30.

You will need a ball joint press, with adapters. Expensive, yet can be rented at some auto parts stores (such as Autozone). %26quot;Rental%26quot; is what they call it, it's actually a refundable deposit.

You will also need a floor jack, or a good size hydraulic bottle jack.

And a couple of jackstands.

A good set of wrenches. (impact would be handy, but not necessary)

A big hammer.

A firm, flat surface to work on.

If this list turns you off, go to a mechanic. how to change ball-joints on a 1998 ford E-150, or should i take it to mechanic?you need a manual, jack stands, jacks, big big hammers.
