My 2005 Toyota Rav4 (4WD) is due for a 15,000-mi service. But, the dealership charges $199 for it! I understand the oil change, tire rotation, and checking the air filter/brake pads are important. How important is it to re-torque the drive shaft bolt? What does that even mean?
Here are the other recommended things to inspect:
~ Ball joints and dust covers
~ Brake lines and hoses
~ Drive shaft boots
~ Engine coolant 5
~ Exhaust pipes and mountings
~ Radiator core and condenser
~ Rear differential oil
~ Steering gear box
~ Steering linkage and boots
~ Transfer case oil
I do about 60% city driving with about 40% highway driving in an urban environment with light-medium traffic. I haven't driven off-road yet. What is really important to do in the 15000-mi service appt for a Toyota Rav4?I would change oil and filter, check and replace air cleaner if necessary, check the fulid levels and maybe rotate the tires. Engine coolant should be changed on a 24 month cycle. Also check the wiper blades.
